Ocean Science Trust is the local host of the Western Society of Naturalists 2015 Meeting

This year, Ocean Science Trust is honored to be the local host of the Western Society of Naturalists (WSN) Annual Meeting located in Sacramento, California, November 4-8, 2015. We have introduced a convening topic of "Marine Science Informing Management." Research focused on West Coast ecosystems, including protected area monitoring, will be shared through scientific presentations and workshops.

Registration is now open through October 1, 2015.

Marine Science Informing Management

As the local host, we are curating topics under the umbrella of Marine Science Informing Management including:

  1. Evaluating Protected Areas
  2. Long-term Monitoring for Long-term Change
  3. Broadening Participation in Research and Monitoring
  4. Human Dimensions

Student Symposium, focused on Critical Issues and Innovative Approaches in Marine Policy Along the Northeast Pacific, will include the following speakers:

Cat Kuhlman
Executive Director of the Ocean Protection Council,
Deputy Secretary for Oceans and Coastal Policy at the California Natural Resources Agency
Brendan Kelly
Director of Conservation Research and Chief Scientist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium        
John Bones
Marine Planning Coordinator, Nanwakolas Council of First Nations
Caren Braby
Marine Resources Program Manager, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
