Ocean Science Trust is a team of natural and social scientists, policy experts, technologists and communications professionals working together for healthy oceans in California. As the the creator and host of OceanSpaces, we believe that science is an important foundation of resource management and conservation decisions. We work across traditional boundaries between governments, scientists and citizens. Our goal is to build understanding and trust in science to empower participation in the decisions that are shaping the future of our oceans.
We work on MPA monitoring, sustainable fisheries, citizen science, climate change and ocean acidification, and OceanSpaces. As a non-profit organization, we partner closely with government entities, including the California Ocean Protection Council, the cabinet-level body on ocean policy in California.
Our mission is to advance a constructive role for science in decision-making by promoting collaboration and mutual understanding among scientists, citizens, managers, and policymakers working toward sustained, healthy, and productive coastal and ocean ecosystems.
