Ocean Science Trust coordinates all activities of the Ocean Protection Council Science Advisory Team (OPC-SAT), a team of 25 esteemed scientists from a range of independent research institutions and programs along the West Coast and beyond.

A Conduit to the Broader Scientific Community

In working with the OPC-SAT, Ocean Science Trust has put into place a structure to effectively harness the best thinking of the scientific community on behalf of the Ocean Protection Council, California’s highest ocean policy body.

A Forum for Discussion & Collaboration

Ocean Science Trust hosts semi-annual OPC-SAT workshops where we bring together OPC-SAT members, other experts and thought leaders, and decision makers to explore science needs around California’s most pressing ocean management challenges. These events spur new initiatives and innovative partnerships that build new pathways for science in decision making.

Bringing Science to Relevant Ocean Issues

Ocean Science Trust is working with the OPC-SAT on a number of projects that address priority ocean issues in California. See below.
